On behalf of all of us in the School of Nursing, I welcome you to learn more about our undergraduate and graduate nursing programs at Edgewood College.

This is an exciting and challenging time for us. The critical shortage of clinical practitioners, educators and researchers in nursing is leading to an increase interest in the profession. As a result we have experienced unprecedented growth in our undergraduate and graduate programs. In the past five years, we have more than doubled our enrollment in both programs. Although growth of this magnitude brings challenges for all of us, we remain committed to educating students to be knowledgeable, accountable, responsible, ethical and culturally sensitive leaders in the profession. In addition to our four year baccalaureate nursing degree program, we received approval in September 2008 to offer an accelerated second-degree track for individuals who have already received a baccalaureate degree in another field. Admission to this program begins with the first class in Fall 2009.

Our Master of Nursing program offers students the opportunity to pursue advanced nursing knowledge in two concentrations: (1) Nursing Education or (2) Nursing Administration. The graduate program supports the School of Nursing’s mission, focusing on preparing nurses for leadership positions in education or administration, all of which are in high demand in today’s diverse health care environment.

We are proud of our students, our alumni, and our educational offerings in the School of Nursing. Never has a career in nursing been so inviting or so desperately needed. We believe in the mission of the School of Nursing and we invite you join us in that mission.
