Guaranteed Admission Program
The School of Nursing offers a program leading to either the BS or BA degree. There are 128 credits required for graduation, of which 49 are in the Nursing major. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing.Beginning in the Fall Semester of 2008, students who agree to participate in the Guaranteed Admission Program for the School of Nursing AND meet the following criteria will be granted admission into the major:
- Be admitted to Edgewood College and have a cumulative high school grade point average of at least 3.5 and minimum ACT score of 24 -OR- be admitted to Edgewood College as a Presidential or Dominican Scholar
- A completed Statement of Intent form to the Guaranteed Admission Program (available in Mazzuchelli 106)
- Eligible to begin college-level (or higher) English, Math and Science courses required by the nursing major
- English 110
- Math 101 or 111
- Chemistry 110
- Edgewood College and the School of Nursing require that all math and science credits towards the degree are completed at Edgewood College
- Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 in addition to a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in all math and science coursework
- Students may not declare a major other than nursing to remain eligible to apply to the School of Nursing under the Guaranteed Admission Program
Additional Information
Eligible students who apply for, and successfully complete, the guidelines set forth by the Guaranteed Admission Program will begin the Nursing major sequence their fourth semester (Spring semester of their sophomore year). It is important to note that students that were admitted to the Guaranteed Admission Program that become ineligible to remain in the program DO NOT forfeit their eligibility to be granted admission to the School of Nursing and are encouraged to apply for admission into the major.
